Let the long review begin... [or just scroll down :)]

The Venus Show was held over the May Bank Holiday weekend for the first time in France in Paris. The show itself was billed as ‘Salon international de l’erotisme’ …and I don’t really know what that means but it isn’t to do with hairdressers! For a first show it wasn’t too bad and there were very few organisational issues, obviously the 10 years of putting on shows certainly paid off.

The show was held over 3 days in one large hall at the Le Bourget exhibition centre on the north side of Paris. The trip over there on the channel tunnel (my first time) was a bit of an anticlimax. The show itself was busy at times but not over crammed, pretty good numbers for a first show but everyone leaving early in the evenings was a shame.

It was interesting to compare the Euro vs US approach and comparing Venus with AVN etc. The US is dominated by the culture of female celebrity with massive queues to meet the famous stars like Jenna Jameson, Stormy etc. whilst the almost as hot not so famous stars like Lacie Hart have hardly anyone around and easy to talk to. I got the impression there was a plethora of pretty girls in Europe (Hungary and Czech republic babes helping out!) and the guys were more the stars. In Europe it was just down to what the girl was doing which bought the attention ..and the things they were doing was far more explicit!! In Vegas your arrested for showing your tits in Paris fingering seemed the norm!

There were some top babes in Paris and it was really good to meet girls like Nella (check out her blog!)who are revolutionising the pornstar role and the publics perception of them.. a nice sweet regular girl having fun and a good time. Wish this sort of attitude could be bought across to the UK :( She also likes dance music and raves..bonus! ;)

Internet was represented but probably not as much as in the US shows. It was focused on oldskool DVD content delivery although some stands specialising in micro-payment etc. such as HotMovies were there and heavily promoting as usual.

One of the bigger stands was Marc Dorcel (.. a continental thing?) and was a bit like the equivalent of Vivid. They had Savana Samson there and Laney Barbie. Private were there as would be expected and had some girls signing and promoting the new Sex City (a Sin City parody). 21stsextuary had a stand but not much on it. Platinum X had their euro version which was a very lively stand. A2Z, basically the sole British representatives for such labels as Rude Britannia, was again a pretty dull stand, although thankfully they did have Poppy Morgan come along who won best euro starlet at the euroEline awards on the Friday night.

FM Video from Paris and Rome had a particularly lively stand with Italian and Czech girls dancing on but again never heard of the production company before. Can you send me the video you took of me please guys!! :) The fact is many of the bigger names from a US perspective were not there. Anabolic and Diabolic were strangely shown as a principle sponsor of the event on the programme but I didn’t actually see them at the show!

There were lots of smaller stands including video and clothing type stands. They were actually selling their goods there which was quite different to the US. This resulted in quite a lot of smaller stands filling up over half the hall space.

I kept introducing myself to who I thought was Gergo from machomedia and it was a guy from Private (Luxx DVD?) so apologies for that! :) He knew you but due to our language barrier we just became increasingly confused!

An observation – There was far to much weird facial hair on the men visiting the show. What are moustaches all about, you really should loose them guys very disturbing! A cross between Ned Flanders and Sadam is not really a look that rocks guys?! :p
